Location

History

A temporary stop of the Sanyo Railway between Suma and Tarumi, Shioya opened on 1 July 1896, handling passengers and freight. Nationalisation of the railway on 1 December 1906 moved it to the state network and made it a full station, and on 12 October 1909 it was assigned to the Sanyo Main Line. It passed to JR West at JNR's privatisation on 1 April 1987. The Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake closed it on 17 January 1995, and it reopened on 23 January. Station numbering began on 17 March 2018, and the Midori-no-Madoguchi ticket office closed on 30 June 2022. Today it is numbered JR-A69 and lies in Tarumi Ward, Kobe, with two opposed side platforms serving two tracks.

Notes

Having neither switches nor absolute signals, Shioya is classified as a stop rather than a full station, even though its name ends in "Station".
