Location

History

The Ministry of Railways opened the station on 28 November 1934 as the terminus of a line that forms part of today's Kishin Line. An onward section opened on 8 April 1936, completing the through route and turning the station into an intermediate stop. Freight handling ended on 12 March 1973 and baggage handling on 14 March 1985. On 1 April 1987, when Japan National Railways was broken up and privatized, the station passed to West Japan Railway Company (JR West). The station is in the city of Mimasaka, Okayama Prefecture, and lies 63.0 km along the Kishin Line from its southern terminus at Himeji.

Notes

The station was used on screen as "Nitta Station" in the NHK drama Battery (バッテリー), broadcast in 2008.
