• JR Sanyo Main Line: Shin-Kurashiki ⇄ Kamogata

Konkō Station opened on 4 August 1901 as Konjin Station on the privately built San'yō Railway, between Tamashima (now Shin-Kurashiki) and Kamogata. The present station building, which carries a building-property marker to the right of its entrance, was completed in March 1902. The line was nationalised on 1 December 1906 and was assigned to the San'yō Main Line in 1909, and the station was renamed Konkō on 1 April 1919 after the nearby Konkōkyō religious headquarters. With JNR privatisation on 1 April 1987 it passed to JR West; ICOCA service began in September 2007, and the Midori-no-Madoguchi ticket counter closed on 28 February 2022, the station becoming unattended the following day.

The footbridge on the Fukuyama side dates from 1915, was recognised in February 2009 as a Modernisation Industrial Heritage site, and the platform canopy reuses doublehead rails from the railway's earliest era.
