History
Kita-Nobeoka opened on 11 February 1953 when Japanese National Railways added it as an in-line station on the existing Nippō Main Line track between Hyūga-Nagai and Nobeoka. Baggage handling was abolished on 30 March 1972 and the station became unstaffed at the same time. With the 1 April 1987 privatisation of JNR, operations passed to JR Kyushu, and on 1 June 1996 oversight moved from the Ōita Branch to the Kagoshima Branch under the new Miyazaki Integrated Railway Business Division. The station closed temporarily during the September 2017 Typhoon Talim, with substitute buses running between Saiki and Nobeoka, and on 1 April 2022 it was transferred to the newly created Miyazaki Branch.
Notes
There is no station building at Kita-Nobeoka; the only structure provided is a bicycle parking lot at the entrance, with passengers crossing between the opposed side platforms via a footbridge.
