• JR Geibi Line: Miyoshi (Hiroshima) ⇄ Kamisugi (Hiroshima)

Yatsugi Station opened on 7 June 1922 when the Geibi Railway extended its line from the original Miyoshi Station (now Nishi-Miyoshi) to Shiomachi Station (now Kamisugi). Following partial nationalisation on 1 June 1933, the line became part of the JNR Shōbara Line, then the Sanjin Line in 1936, and finally the Geibi Line on 1 July 1937. Freight handling ended on 1 June 1960. The station was outsourced to Japan Travel Bureau's sightseeing arm on 16 April 1963 and converted to an unstaffed simple-commission stop on 20 December 1971. With JNR privatisation on 1 April 1987 the station passed to JR West. The original island platform was rebuilt as a single side platform. Ticket sales by the front-of-station shop ended on 31 March 2008.

Yatsugi mainly serves students commuting to Hiroshima Prefectural Miyoshi High School, lending a noticeable peak to morning and afternoon platform crowds despite the station being unstaffed and reduced to a single track.
