• Yosan Line: Iyo-Hōjō ⇄ Awai

Japanese National Railways opened Yanagihara Station as an infill stop on the existing Yosan Line on 1 June 1961, after a thirty-year delay caused by a successful bid from the neighbouring Awai district during planning of the Iyo-Hōjō to Matsuyama extension. JR Shikoku took over with JNR's 1 April 1987 privatisation, and the station now bears number Y49. It has never had a station building — a single side platform serving one track is fronted by a small shelter and a separate kiosk housing the ticket vending machine, with a ramp connecting the platform to the access road and bicycle parking provided behind.

Because JR East operates a separate Yanagihara Station on the Kitakami Line in Tōhoku, tickets issued at the Ehime station are marked "(讃) Yanagihara" to keep the two apart.
