Watada Station opened on 22 March 1983. It is an elevated, single-side-platform halt in Karatsu, Saga Prefecture, 40.9 km from the line's origin at Meinohama on the Chikuhi Line, served by both local and weekday rapid trains. JR Kyushu took over operation on 1 April 1987 with the breakup of Japanese National Railways; the station is unstaffed.
