History

Utō Station opened on 1 June 1923 on the privately held Aichi Electric Railway, becoming a Meitetsu station when Aichi Electric merged with Meigi Railway on 1 August 1935 to form the modern Meitetsu group. A footbridge replaced the level crossing inside the station on 1 October 1983. The booking office was de-staffed in 2004, when the Tranpass system arrived on 15 September; the manaca IC card followed on 11 February 2011, and Tranpass service ended on 29 February 2012.
