History
Tofurōmae Station opened on 11 April 1924 in what is now the city of Dazaifu, Fukuoka Prefecture. The station is operated by the private Nishi-Nippon Railroad on its Tenjin Ōmuta Line, where it carries the number T14 and lies 13.8 kilometres from the line's starting point at Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin). The staffed facility consists of two opposed ground-level side platforms with no internal connection between them — passengers wishing to change platforms must leave the station and re-enter after crossing a level crossing outside. The station's name refers to the nearby Dazaifu Government Office Ruins, approximately 700 metres away and reachable on foot in about eight minutes.
