History

Takaoka-Yabunami Station opened in March 2018 as a new station on the Ainokaze Toyama Railway Line, between Nishi-Takaoka and Takaoka in the city of Takaoka. A ground-breaking ceremony was held at the site on 25 December 2016, and the station name was formally announced on 15 February 2017. It had been selected through a public ballot conducted in December 2016 from three candidate names — Takaoka-Yabunami, Katakagonosato, and Etchu-Takaoka — with Takaoka-Yabunami receiving 276 votes, or 35.4% of the total. The station has two side platforms 85 metres long, sized for four-car trains, with separate entrances on either side.

Notes

The station name was chosen by public vote in December 2016, edging out two other shortlisted candidates, Katakagonosato and Etchu-Takaoka.
