History

Takadano-tekkyō Station opened on 1 October 2014 as the newest stop on the Hitachinaka Seaside Railway's Minato Line, in Hitachinaka, Ibaraki Prefecture. It was the first new station on the line in 52 years; the name was officially unveiled on 15 December 2013. The unstaffed station consists of a single side platform serving the single-track line and lies 7.1 km from the Katsuta terminus, between Nakane and Nakaminato. The name refers to a steel railway bridge (tekkyō) over the Nakamaru River, translating roughly as "the railway bridge at Takada."
