History
Sobanokami Station is an Ishinomaki Line stop in the city of Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture, operated by JR East. The station opened on 5 April 1956 as an unstaffed passenger-only stop of Japanese National Railways. It was absorbed into the JR East network at the privatization of JNR on 1 April 1987. Operations of the line and the station were suspended by the 11 March 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami, with services resuming on 17 March 2013. The station has a single side platform serving one bi-directional track and remains unattended, lying 23.7 kilometers from the line's terminus at Kogota Station.
