History
Kansai Express Railway opened Shiratsuka Station on its Nagoya Line on 8 May 1944. On 1 June 1944 that company merged with Nankai Railway to form Kintetsu Railway, and the station became Kintetsu’s. An earlier station on the same stretch of line, opened on 10 September 1915, closed on the day Shiratsuka opened. Today the station is in Tsu, Mie Prefecture, on Kintetsu’s Nagoya Line. Its station number is E36. It has four tracks and two island platforms. On the east side of the station, a Kintetsu depot handles daily inspections, turnaround servicing and overnight stabling for general-purpose Nagoya Line cars.
Notes
Until the timetable change of 17 March 2018, about 1/3 of daytime local trains to and from Nagoya, and all daytime local trains to and from Kashikojima, turned back at Shiratsuka.
