History

The Mikawa Railway, a private company, opened Shinkawa-machi Station on 5 February 1914. A freight branch to Shinkawaguchi opened from the station on 17 August 1915. After the Mikawa Railway merged into Meitetsu on 1 June 1941, the station became part of Meitetsu's Mikawa Line, and its building was rebuilt in July 1944. The branch was abolished on 1 February 1955, its track afterwards counting as a siding within the station, and freight handling ended on 25 May 1977. The station has two opposed side platforms linked by a level crossing. It is unstaffed and run under a central management system controlled from Chiryu Station. It stands in Hekinan, Aichi Prefecture, and its station number is MU09.

Notes

The former station building still stands in front of the newer one, which holds the ticket machines and gates, as a public facility: it opened as the Shinkawa Machikado Salon on 5 January 2001 and is maintained by the local government.
