History
The station opened on 1 August 1933 as Daita-Nichome Station on the Teito Electric Railway. That company merged with Odawara Express Railway on 1 May 1940, which made the station part of the Teito Line. On 1 May 1942 Odakyu merged with Tokyo Express Electric Railway (Tokyu), and the station joined Tokyu's Inokashira Line. When Keio Teito Electric Railway split off from Tokyu on 1 June 1948, the station became part of its Inokashira Line. It was renamed Shindaita on 21 July 1966. A renovation in August 1995 added escalators and automatic ticket gates and replaced the station building. The station is on Keio's Inokashira Line in Setagaya, Tokyo, and its station number is IN06.
Notes
In the Tokyu years, from wartime into the postwar period, a hurriedly laid connecting track linked this station with Setagaya-Daita Station on the Odakyu Odawara Line, built to bring in Odakyu cars after air raids burned out most Inokashira Line trains; no trace of it remains.
