History

Shijimi Station opened on 28 December 1937 as part of an extension of the Miki Electric Railway. A merger on 9 January 1947 made it a station of the company that later became Kobe Electric Railway. The Ao Line timetable revision of 19 May 2012 made it the turnaround point for some daytime trains. It stands at ground level, with a side platform and an island platform serving three tracks, where trains can cross and be overtaken; a level crossing inside the grounds leads to the island platform. The station is in Miki, Hyogo Prefecture, on Kobe Electric Railway's Ao Line, and its station number is KB50. It is one of the central stations of Miki's new-town district.

Notes

On 23 July 1980, Crown Prince Akihito, later Emperor, rode a train from Shinkaichi to Shijimi with Crown Princess Michiko, on the occasion of his attending a national conference promoting blood donation.
