Senjō Station opened on 6 February 1939 as an intermediate stop when Japanese Government Railways extended the Yosan Main Line westwards from Iyo-Hirano toward Yawatahama. The line was operated by JGR, then by Japanese National Railways, before JR Shikoku took over on 1 April 1987 with the breakup of JNR. The stop sits in the city of Yawatahama, Ehime Prefecture, 260.6 km from the line's origin at Takamatsu, and is served only by local Yosan Line trains, whose eastbound services terminate at Matsuyama. It has two opposed side platforms and an unstaffed building serving only as a waiting room.
