History

Sambommatsu Station opened on 10 October 1930 with the Sangū Express Railway's Haibara - Iga-Kambe section. It became part of Kansai Express Railway on 15 March 1941 through a merger with Osaka Electric Tramway, and on 1 June 1944 the station passed to Kintetsu through wartime consolidation. PiTaPa service began on 1 April 2007, and the station was made permanently unstaffed on 21 December 2013.

Notes

Although unstaffed since 2013, the station retains six-car platforms and is served by section-express, semi-express and local trains, plus a handful of express services during the morning and evening peaks; the toilet on the up platform was closed and removed in 2023.
