History
Sakuragaoka Station opened on 25 November 1952 on the Odakyu Electric Railway Enoshima Line, sited in what is now Yamato, Kanagawa. Located between Yamato and Kōza-Shibuya stations, the stop was inserted into the existing line to serve growing residential development in the area. A new elevated station building with an east-west free passageway entered service on 19 March 1978. The station carries number OE 06, and according to JA Wikipedia the station name was chosen because cherry-blossom viewing sites were numerous in the vicinity, drawing on the older place-name 'Sakurakabu' but avoiding it because of an accident at the nearby level crossing.
