History
Ōsakatemmangū Station opened on 8 March 1997 alongside the rest of the JR Tōzai Line between Kyōbashi and Amagasaki. Operated by JR West and located in Kita-ku, Osaka, the underground station was named after the nearby Osaka Tenmangū Shrine; its original working name during construction was 'Minami-morimachi.' Station numbering was introduced on 17 March 2018, assigning it the code JR-H43. The single island platform serves two tracks, and movable platform doors entered service on 28 March 2012, only the second installation on the JR Tōzai Line after Kitashinchi Station.
Notes
When the JR Tōzai Line opened, the platform announcements for the connecting Osaka Metro Minami-morimachi Station originally said only 'transfer to the JR Line' — this was later changed to specify 'JR Tōzai Line' to distinguish it from other JR transfers at nearby stations.
