History
Onodakō Station opened on 25 November 1915 as Cement-chō Station on the Onoda Light Railway, originally at the site of today's Minami-Onoda Station. Nationalisation of the Onoda Railway on 1 April 1943 brought the rename to Onodakō, and on 1 October 1947 — when the line was extended to Suzumeda — the station was relocated to its current position. Parcel handling ended on 1 February 1984 and freight followed on 3 March 1986. JNR privatisation on 1 April 1987 transferred operations to JR West. From 1 June 1990 the station was contracted out, then fully destaffed on 1 April 1998. The two-side-platform halt is 6.5 km from Inō.
