Ojima Station opened on 21 December 1978 as a station on the Toei Shinjuku Line of the Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Transportation, in the Ojima neighbourhood of Kōtō, Tokyo. The station carries the station number S-15 and consists of two island platforms served by three tracks. It is located underneath Tokyo Metropolitan Route 50 (Shin-Ōhashi-dōri) near its intersection with Tokyo Metropolitan Route 476 (Kyūhachi-dōri), in a mixed-use area of commercial, residential, and light industrial properties. The Shuto Expressway's No. 7 Komatsugawa Line passes half a kilometre to the north of the station.

The Toei Bus stop "Ojima-Ekimae" outside the station is served by the Kusa 24 route for Asakusa-Kotobukicho, the Kame 24 route for Kasaibashi via Nishi-Ojima Station to Kameido Station, and the Kame 21 route for Toyocho Station via Suijinmori to Kameido Station.
