• JR Ako Line: Higashi-Okayama ⇄ Saidaiji

Ōdara Station opened on 1 September 1962 as a passenger-only unstaffed stop when Japanese National Railways extended the Akō Line from Imbe to Higashi-Okayama. A station of the same name and kanji had stood about 400 m to the west on the Saidaiji Railway, which ran until the Akō Line opened. The station passed to JR West when JNR was privatised on 1 April 1987. ICOCA-compatible simplified automatic faregates were installed on 27 July 2007, and IC-card service began on 1 September 2007. Widening of the platform and of the area around the ticket gates, including the addition of another simplified faregate, was completed on 22 January 2009.

The station shares its name and kanji with a separate Ōdara Station that stood about 400 m to the west on the Saidaiji Railway, which ran until the Akō Line — the line now serving the JR station — opened in 1962.
