History

Numabukuro Station opened on 16 April 1927 on the Seibu Shinjuku Line in Nakano. In 1955 Seibu added outer passing tracks flanking the island platform — its first overtaking facility. A 1983 reconstruction replaced the depot, abolished the level crossing, and reorganised the platforms into side platforms with two passing tracks. A new south entrance opened on 30 June 2000. Station numbering in fiscal 2012 designated Numabukuro SS06. From April 2017 the layout was simplified to two side platforms and a single shared passing track. On 12 December 2018 the footbridge gave way to a temporary underground passage prepared for the Nakai–Nogata grade-separation works.

Notes

The passing tracks installed here in 1955 were Seibu Railway's first express-overtaking facility on the Shinjuku Line.
