Nitta Station opened on 1 July 1988 as a station of the Abukuma Express Line.

Nitta Station's catchphrase is "Home of Shizuribe". The station has a single ground-level side platform with one bi-directional track. Fields stretch widely around the station, but a planned residential development sits along Fukushima Prefectural Route 122 on the east side, and small hamlets dot the west side along National Route 349.
