History
Japanese National Railways opened Nishi-Hitoyoshi Station on 1 June 1952. The opening went with the Hitoyoshi locomotive depot being assigned KiHa 41000 diesel railcars and starting to run them. On 1 April 1987, when the national railway was broken up and privatised, Kyushu Railway Company (JR Kyushu) took over the station. Its single side platform at ground level serves one track. There is no station building, only a waiting shelter, and the station is unstaffed. It is on the Hisatsu Line in the city of Hitoyoshi, Kumamoto Prefecture.
Notes
Cherry trees line the track for several hundred metres beginning about 300 metres west of the station, and the tunnel of blossom they form is one of the noted attractions of the Hisatsu Line.
