• JR Akō Line: Aioi (Hyogo) ⇄ Sakoshi

Nishi-Aioi Station opened on 12 December 1951 with the JNR Akō Line section between Aioi and Banshū-Akō. Baggage handling ended on 1 October 1980. With JNR privatisation on 1 April 1987 the station passed to JR West, and a JR-Kobe-line approach melody "Sazanami" was introduced on 8 March 1997. An automatic ticket gate entered service on 2 December 1998, and ICOCA usage became possible on 1 November 2003 via a simple-type gate. The ticket window closed on 30 November 2024 and the station became fully unstaffed the following day. The layout is a single side platform on the south side of the line; the station, in Chihiro-chō, Aioi, Hyōgo Prefecture, lies in a residential valley near Aioi Bay.

Nishi-Aioi sits in a narrow valley pointed at Aioi Bay; the IHI Aioi Factory is among its principal commuter draws and dominates the view down-slope from the platform.
