• San'in Main Line: Chiyokawa ⇄ Kameoka

Namikawa Station opened on 20 July 1935 together with Chiyokawa as new stations on the Railway Ministry's San'in Main Line between Kameoka and Yagi, in what is now Kameoka, Kyoto Prefecture. Luggage handling ended on 1 December 1971 and the station was destaffed. With the privatisation of JNR on 1 April 1987 it came under West Japan Railway Company. The "Sagano Line" branding was adopted on 13 March 1988, and on 5 March 1989 the station was relocated 200 metres towards Chiyokawa, with the platform layout expanded from one platform to two opposed side platforms. ICOCA IC-card service began on 1 November 2003 and the staffed Midori-no-Madoguchi closed on 31 October 2024.

The site of the pre-1989 station building was converted into a railway history park displaying a DD51 diesel locomotive and the preserved nose section of a Shinkansen 0 series Series 22 cab car.
