Kuroda Station opened on 15 September 1936 on the Meitetsu Nagoya Main Line in the city of Ichinomiya, Aichi Prefecture. It was de-staffed on 25 March 1952. On 1 October 2001 the per-hour stopping pattern doubled from two to four trains following a timetable revision. A new station building was constructed on 15 May 2004 along with the introduction of the unified station-management system and the Tranpass magnetic card. The Manaca IC card came into service on 11 February 2011, and Tranpass operation ended on 29 February 2012.

When the large shopping centre Aeon Mall Kisogawa (originally Diamond City Kirio) opened nearby, the station building and platforms were repainted in the mall's signature emerald-green and blue, and the platforms also carry many advertisements and signs for the mall.
