• Hokuhoku Line: Saigata ⇄ Ōike-Ikoi-no-mori

Kubiki Station opened on 22 March 1997 with the inauguration of the Hokuetsu Express Hokuhoku Line, the third-sector route built primarily to provide a fast Niigata-bound feeder for the limited-express Hakutaka services. The station is sited 53.6 km from the Muikamachi end of the line in what was then the village of Kubiki, now a ward of the city of Jōetsu. Built as an elevated structure with two side platforms and a distinctive half-egg-shaped dome station building designed by architect Takehiro Mōzuna, it has been unstaffed from opening. A daily-average ridership of 85 passengers was recorded in fiscal 2015.

The half-egg-shaped concrete dome housing the station building was designed by architect Takehiro Mōzuna, better known for the more elaborate Kushiro Fishermen's Wharf MOO.
