History

Koshigahama Station is a JR West San'in Main Line station in Hagi, Yamaguchi Prefecture, located in the Ushiro-Obata district despite being named for the Koshigahama district 1 km to the northeast. It opened on 1 April 1960 as a JNR passenger-only unstaffed halt between Nagato-Ōi and Higashi-Hagi. It became a JR West station with the 1 April 1987 JNR privatisation. The station was temporarily closed in late July 2013 after heavy-rain damage to the line, and reopened on 4 August 2013 for the Nago–Nagato-shi section. It consists of a single side platform on an embankment, with no station building.

Notes

Despite its name, Koshigahama Station is not actually in the Koshigahama district — that area lies about 1 km to the northeast. The station itself stands in Ushiro-Obata.
