Location

History

Kokusai-tenjijo Station opened on 30 March 1996 with the line's first section, between Shin-Kiba and Tokyo Teleport. In 1997 it was certified as one of Kanto's 100 selected stations for its translucent Teflon-membrane roof, which evokes a covered wagon. Platform doors came into use on 30 September 2018, and a large ceramic relief of 36 characters from the works of manga artist Osamu Tezuka, 2.6 m by 8.8 m, was installed in the concourse on 18 March 2019. The station, on the Rinkai Line in Koto ward, Tokyo, is operated by Tokyo Waterfront Area Rapid Transit and is among the nearest to Tokyo Big Sight, which gave it its name. Its station number is R03.

Notes

The underground section at this station was newly excavated during construction of the Rinkai Line, on land that had already been acquired during the Japanese National Railways era and was repurposed for the job.
