History

Kita-Yamata Station is an underground stop on the Yokohama Municipal Subway's Green Line (Line 4) in Tsuzuki-ku, Yokohama, and is numbered G06. It opened on 30 March 2008, the day the Green Line started revenue service between Nakayama and Hiyoshi. The single island platform serving two tracks sits four storeys below ground beneath Kanagawa Prefectural Route 102. Public Wi-Fi service was added on 1 May 2012, and a waiting room was installed on the platform on 31 July 2020. The station sits in the northern Kohoku New Town district and lies adjacent to Yokohama International Pool and Salesio Gakuin Junior and Senior High School.

Notes

Kita-Yamata is pronounced 'Kita-yamata' rather than the more typical eastern Japanese 'yamada,' reflecting a regional reading also seen in nearby 'Higashi-yamata' and 'Takata.'
