• San'in Main Line: Tamatsukuri-Onsen ⇄ Shinji

Kimachi Station opened on December 25, 1929, when Japan's Ministry of Railways extended the San'in Main Line and added a new stop between Yumachi (now Tamatsukuri-onsen) and Shinji in Shimane Prefecture. The station handled both passenger and freight traffic at opening; freight operations ended in 1962 and parcel handling ceased in 1972, the same year staff were withdrawn. Following the 1987 privatization of Japanese National Railways, Kimachi came under West Japan Railway Company (JR West). The original station building was demolished in September 2003. In December 2016, ICOCA support was introduced via simple IC card readers, and the station marked 80 years since opening in 2009.

Kimachi sits on a brief double-track section between here and Tamatsukuri-onsen, making it a crossover point for trains on the otherwise single-track stretch.
