History
On the Keisei Main Line of Keisei Electric Railway, Keisei Yawata Station stands in Ichikawa, Chiba Prefecture. Its station number is KS16. It opened on 3 November 1915 as Shin-Yawata Station, while a separate Yawata Station opened towards Onigoe the same day. That station closed and merged into this one on 15 August 1942, and this station took its present name on 1 November 1942. A department store opened at the station on 28 September 1963, and that year two side platforms gave way to one island platform. The store closed in March 2007, leaving a ground-floor shop that shut on 28 February 2010. The station has two tracks and an overbridge station building.
Notes
Keisei Electric Railway moved its head office from Tokyo to the former department store site by the station on 17 September 2013, and the new building connects directly to the station by a deck at the south exit.
