History

Kanatake Station opened on 1 May 1960 as a new station on the Matsuura Line of Japanese National Railways, handling only passengers on diesel railcars. When the national railways were broken up and privatized on 1 April 1987, it became a JR Kyushu station, and on 1 April 1988 it became a station on the Nishi-Kyushu Line of the third-sector Matsuura Railway. The station is in Imari, Saga Prefecture, and lies 9.8 km from Arita Station. It has one side platform with a single track at ground level. The station is unstaffed and has no station building, but a waiting room, a toilet and a public telephone are provided.

Notes

In January 2024, crowdfunding brought new name signs to seven stations in Imari, Kanatake among them, and the chairs in its waiting room were renewed as well.
