History

Kanamechō Station opened on 24 June 1983 as a stop on the Yurakuchō Line in Toshima ward, Tokyo, under the Teito Rapid Transit Authority. Fukutoshin Line services began through the station on 14 June 2008, adding a second platform level. The TRTA was corporatised on 1 April 2004 and its station facilities passed to Tokyo Metro at that time. Waist-height platform edge doors were installed in January 2011. The station has two island platforms on different basement levels — Yurakuchō (tracks 1 and 2) on the B2 floor and Fukutoshin (tracks 3 and 4) on the B3 floor — designated Y-08 and F-08 respectively.

Notes

The Yurakuchō and Fukutoshin platforms share an island layout at the same horizontal position but on stacked basement levels, simplifying cross-line transfers to a single staircase.
