• Kisuki Line: Kamedake ⇄ Yakawa

Izumo Yokota Station opened on 20 November 1934 with the extension of the Japanese Government Railways Kisuki Line from Izumo-Minari to Yakawa, in what is now Okuizumo, Shimane Prefecture. It became a contracted-staff station in October 1971; freight handling was withdrawn in November 1982 and parcel handling in March 1985. Operations passed to JR West at the privatisation of JNR on 1 April 1987, and on 1 October 2001 the introduction of centralised train control reduced the station to a simplified contract operation. The station has two opposed side platforms and lies 52.3 km from Shinji at the start of the line; most trains from the Shinji direction terminate and reverse here.

The shrine-style wooden station building dates from the 1934 opening and is fronted by a shimenawa rope inspired by the one at Izumo Taisha; its roof uses traditional irimoya hipped-gable construction and the walls are built in the azekura log style.
