Location
History
Izumisano Station opened on 1 October 1897 as Sano Station, the original terminus of the Nankai Railway's Sakai-Sano segment. It was renamed Izumisano on 1 April 1948 when Sano-cho was reorganised as Izumisano city. Removed from limited-express stops in 1968, the station was restored to express status on 1 November 1985. Elevation works began on 12 December 1991, and the Nankai Airport Line opened on 15 June 1994 with this station as its origin. Full elevation was completed on 1 October 2008. Station numbering NK30 was introduced on 1 April 2012. Three island platforms now serve four tracks under the elevated station building.
Notes
Tracks 2-3 and tracks 4-5 each share a single line with platform edges on both sides, enabling cross-platform interchange between Wakayama-shi-bound and Kansai-Airport-bound trains in the same direction.
