Iyo-Doi Station opened on 1 September 1919 as the terminus of the then Sanuki Line, which had just been extended west from Iyo-Mishima. It became a through station on 21 June 1921 when the route reached Iyo-Saijō. Freight ended in 1971, parcel handling and staffing ceased in 1985, and the station briefly returned to direct staffing with an attached kiosk in March 1987 before the 1 April 1987 privatisation of JNR passed it to JR Shikoku. It was destaffed again on 1 October 2010. Under JR Shikoku it carries station number Y26 and is served by Yosan Line local, Rapid Sunport and Nanpū Relay services.

Despite serving only stopping trains between Kannonji and Iyo-Saijō, Iyo-Doi is unusually busy for an unstaffed station because both Doi High School pupils inbound and Niihama-area secondary and cram-school pupils outbound rely on it.
