History

Ishizu is a tram stop on Hankai Tramway's Hankai Line, in Nishi-ku, Sakai, Osaka Prefecture. Hankai Tramway opened the stop on 1 April 1912. Operators then changed repeatedly: it became a Nankai Railway station by merger on 21 June 1915, a Kinki Nippon Railway (Kintetsu) station by company merger on 1 June 1944, and a Nankai Electric Railway station by line transfer on 1 June 1947. Another line transfer on 1 December 1980 made it a Hankai Tramway stop. Its station number is HN28. It has two opposed side platforms on two tracks, both sheltered. Nearby are Nankai Main Line's Ishizugawa Station, two shrines, and a memorial tower to Kitabatake Akiie, who died in the Battle of Ishizu.

Notes

When station numbers were introduced on the Hankai Line, HN27, beside Ishizu's HN28, was left empty; the number went to Ishizu-kita, which opened on 1 February 2015.
