Inari-machi (Hiroshima)

Inari-machi opened on 23 November 1912 with the Hiroden Main Line's first section from Hiroshima Station to Kamiyachō; the original stop sat about 100 m west of today's location at the east bridgehead of a rail-only crossing of the Kyōbashi River, while the present site was occupied by a separate stop, Kin'yachō, which was abolished in May 1942. After the 6 August 1945 atomic bombing services through here resumed on 11 October 1945. The line was shifted onto the new road-and-rail Inari-ōhashi bridge in 1950 and the stop was relocated to its current site at the same time. Station number "M4" was assigned in October 1996. With the 3 August 2025 opening of the Ekimae-ōhashi route the Hijiyama Line (Minami-machi-sen) was rerouted to start here and the old Matoba-chō–Inari-machi segment was suspended; that segment was reopened as the Loop Line on 28 March 2026, and the station was renumbered M02.

The four platforms here are arrayed around an intersection where the Main Line, Hijiyama Line and Loop Line tracks meet at a diamond crossing.
