Idogaya Station opened on 1 April 1930 on the present-day Keikyū Main Line in Minami-ku, Yokohama, initially as an unstaffed stop. A pedestrian subway replaced the in-station level crossing in March 1953, and the up platform was lengthened for eight-car operation in January 1978, with the down platform extended on 13 December 1987. Express services briefly called from February 1971 during morning peaks, and the 31 July 1999 timetable revision ended such stops by abolishing southern Main Line expresses. Idogaya regained limited-service patronage on 16 May 2010 as a new Airport Express stop. Since 18 March 2015 the arrival melody has used Ketsumeishi's 'Sakura', honouring the local roots of group leader Ohkura.
