Location

History

Hotarubashi is a tram stop on the Tosaden Kotsu Ino Line in Kochi, Kochi Prefecture. It opened on 29 January 1929 under Tosa Electric, later Tosa Electric Railway. Some services once turned back here; the Ino Line was double-tracked between Kamimachi-gochome and Hotarubashi on 16 April 1950, and between Hotarubashi and Kagamigawabashi on 1 October 1958, when Kagamigawabashi replaced Hotarubashi as the turnback point. On 1 October 2014 Tosa Electric Railway entered a business integration with Kochi-ken Kotsu and Tosaden Dream Service, launching Tosaden Kotsu, which took over the stop. On 21 February 2024 the Ino-bound platform was moved 50 m towards Ino alongside the installation of a right-turn lane, a step aimed at relieving chronic congestion.

Notes

Trams still stable overnight at the Hotarubashi depot, a siding southwest of the stop that was built after the war to replace an older depot north of Kamimachi-gochome, when some services turned back at Hotarubashi.
