History

Hon-Isahaya Station opened on 20 June 1911 on the Shimabara Railway Line in Higashi-Kōji-machi, Isahaya, Nagasaki. Freight handling ended on 30 April 1979, the present station building was rebuilt in December 1989, and on 1 October 2019 the subtitle "Isahaya-Shiyakusho-mae" (in front of Isahaya City Hall) was added.

Notes

Although Isahaya Station is the prefectural hub, the city's actual commercial core sits around Hon-Isahaya — about 1.5 km southeast of Isahaya Station — and the city office, library, central commercial district and Isahaya Park all cluster around this Shimabara Railway stop.
