History
Higashino Station was the last station to be completed during construction of the Kyoto Municipal Subway Tōzai Line, with its physical works finished on 31 July 1997. It opened with the initial Daigo–Nijō section on 12 October 1997, in Yamashina Ward, Kyōto, and the Higashino intersection above the station was subsequently improved by the national government as a separate project. The station has an island platform serving two tracks, full-height platform screen doors, and a single ticket-gate concourse. IC card travel using PiTaPa began on 1 April 2007. Within the Tōzai Line's station-colour scheme, Higashino is assigned wisteria.
