History
Higashi-Mihama Station opened on 1 August 1961 on the Obama Line in Mihama, Mikata District, Fukui Prefecture, 12.7 kilometres from the line’s terminus at Tsuruga. The station passed to West Japan Railway Company (JR West) at the 1 April 1987 privatisation of Japanese National Railways. It is one of the smallest stops on the line: a single side platform with one bi-directional track, no station building, and just a shelter on the platform. The station is unattended and serves the area around Mihama-Higashi Elementary School.
