History
Hibarigaoka-Hanayashiki Station is on the Hankyu Takarazuka Line in Takarazuka, Hyogo Prefecture, though over half its grounds lie on the Kawanishi side. It opened on 16 January 1961, when the railway, enlarging cars and lengthening trains, merged neighbouring Hanayashiki and Hibarigaoka stations under a combined name. Hibarigaoka, opened on 5 August 1916 alongside a housing development, closed with the merger, while Hanayashiki stayed open until May 1962. The platforms began as two side platforms on two tracks and were rebuilt as two island platforms on four tracks when a nearby depot was built; the inner tracks, 2 and 3, are the main lines, while the outer pair mostly take trains starting or ending here. The station number is HK-51.
Notes
According to an anecdote, the dispute over which of the two stations would survive drew in a cabinet minister and was settled by a game of rock-paper-scissors between the heads of the two neighbourhood associations.
