Location
History
Goshogawara Station opened on 1918-09-25 as the terminus of the Mutsu Railway from Kawabe. JNR's Goshogawara Line extended from the station in 1924, and Mutsu Railway was nationalised into that line on 1927-06-01. The Tsugaru Railway began operations from a shared building on 1930-07-15. The Tsugaru Railway side was officially renamed Tsugaru-Goshogawara on 1956-07-30. Freight ended in 1984, parcels in 1985, and JR East took over the JNR side at the 1987-04-01 privatisation. The JR East exterior was rebuilt in a red-brick style and reopened on 2013-08-01. A Midori no Madoguchi window operated until 2021-06-30, replaced by a staffed-remote ticket machine.
Notes
Goshogawara was added to the Tōhoku Station Hundred Selection in 2002 as the gateway to the Tsugaru Peninsula, marked by its giant Tachineputa floats.
