• JR Uchibo Line: Yawatajuku ⇄ Anegasaki

The JR East side of Goi Station opened on 28 March 1912 when the Kisarazu Line was extended from Soga to Anegasaki; the line was successively renamed Hōjō Line (1919), absorbed into the Bōsō Line (1929), separated as the Bōsō West Line (1933), and renamed the Uchibō Line on 15 July 1972. The Kominato Railway side opened on 7 March 1925 when the company's line from Goi to Satomi began service, and the railway was extended through to Kazusa-Nakano in 1928. The JNR portion passed to JR East at privatisation in 1987. The Kominato Railway's Goi engine shed and forge were registered as Tangible Cultural Properties on 2 May 2017.

Goi sits in Ichihara City, which has no station bearing the city's name — a recurring proposal to rename Goi as 'Ichihara Station' has surfaced repeatedly, including in a 2010 municipal survey that ultimately rejected the change.
